Had a wonderful 14 day cruise aboard the Eurodam. Cruise starting in Quebec City, made 9 ports, arrived Ft Lauderdale on Oct 10. We had shore excursions in each port.
We've never had a luggage problem in the past but when arrived at Quebec airport didn't have our luggage. Had to change airlines at Chicago but somehow our luggage didn't make the change like it was suppose to. Wasn't a problem, called the airline, they had our luggage located in Chicago and promise to put it on the next plane to Quebec City. It came in during the night but we ask the hotel to deliver it to our hotel room at 6 the next morning.
The airlines gave us $250 voucher for the inconvenience.
Overall had excellent weather. The fall colors were beautiful. One port I really enjoyed was Corner Brook, Newfoundland. For I was station in Newfoundland for 2 years in the mid 50's while serving in the USAF. So happens last year someone I don't remember sent me a picture of myself that was taken outside Corner Brook. I was station on the other side of the island but we were working there temporary.
We loved the Eurodam! We had suite 7050, our door was directly across the hall from the door into the Neptune Lounge. Sure was handy for all the hors d'oeuvres, desserts and all! In fact we have cruised on HAL 3 different times and had the same suite number on each ship. Each morning they have sweet rolls, fruit, different kinds bread, jelly, cereal, milk coffee, juice, etc We love the Neptune Lounge!
The Eurodam was excellent... everything looked and even still smell new. Only ONE complaint, internet service was poor in our suite but worked great in the Neptune Lounge. So we took our laptop over and enjoy treats and ice tea while taking care of online business.
The food was more than excellent, after 14 days my waist line proves that! Even with doing 3 miles in the gym everyday.
We had a reserved table for two at early dinner. The service was very fast. Almost every night we had completed dinner within an hour! The few times we ate lunch at the Lido, had a table by the window and wasn't crowded.
Usually had room service for breakfast. Every morning they were 10 minutes early, the food was hot and good.
The crew was excellent, couldn't ask for more. We had a tour of the bridge that we really enjoyed.
HAL is our choice of cruise lines for the crowd makes us feel young.
And we love those Deluxe Verandah Suites, pricey but we feel it's worth the cost for the nice large room and all the extras that go with it.
We used the express service so when the crew picked our bags up outside our suite we never saw them again until we got to our home airport.
We're looking at booking another HAL cruise for April, hope we can get the same room number.
Meanwhile we have a Christmas family cruise planned on Royal Caribbean, Voyager of the Seas. It boards in Galveston, TX and we don't have to fly... that's a real plus!
Our hotel in Quebec City, the Le Chateau Frontanac.

Nice review and lovely picture of you both. I just knew the foliage in my beloved New England would be great. I am so glad you had a wonderful cruise. Thank you so much for posting the review.

Hi Dayton, thanks for the good review. My DH and I are thinking of trying HAL because of all the good things we have heard about their ships. Glad to see that they are still doing it right for the passengrs. We did that cruise a couple of years ago, loved it and want to do it again some time. Again thanks for letting us know. _________________ ~Jeanne~

Really nice review Dayton. A fall trip in New England is on my bucket list. HAL does things right, in my opinion. I just competed a 15 day Panama Canal trip on the Grand Old Dame of their fleet.......Statendam. _________________ Regards,

Thanks Laura, Jeanne, Nancy and Frank.
Frank, how was the Statendam?
We had though about doing the Statendam Panama Canal in March. But read a bad review that it had a lot of rooms flooded and some people had to cancel during a recent cruise and fly home. Also read it was suppose to drydock after that cruise. So we decided to do the Zuiderdam in April. Had rather done the Statendam for it stopped at Half Moon Cay.
If anyone is interested, I uploaded some pictures here. Suggest punching F11 (full screen) on your computer if you wish to view the caption under the pictures. |

Thanks Laura.
We really liked Newport. Also enjoyed our Boston tour. So much to see, probably need a week there.
We spent 10 days in DC in 06. We first though a week would be enough. But then glad we had planned for 10 for enjoyed every day. |
